We are a lighting and video design company based in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.
Born from Morgan’s passion over a decade ago, we’ve evolved into a small, dedicated team specialising in lighting and AV solutions for events throughout the country. From festivals to launch events, we collaborate closely with our clients, delivering customized solutions tailored to their unique event needs.
What we do
Our job is to cover everything that lights up. This covers everything from the design, to supplying the gear, systems and rigging, to installation and running the equipment live.
Meet our crew
Morgan Whitfield
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Since acquiring his first light in high school, Morgan’s journey into the world of events took off. His blend of event enthusiasm and electronics expertise gave birth to what we now call Illumination and Optics. With hands-on experience as a lighting technician and production manager in New Zealand and overseas, Morgan brings a practical wealth of knowledge to any event or production.
Outside the office, Morgan is a keen traveler and explorer. He enjoys soaking in different cultures, taking on the challenge of navigating places where English isn’t the norm.

Daniel Wilson (Dan)
Senior technician
Dan’s passion for the technical side of production, particularly in theatre, has been a constant driving force. A Toi Whakaari graduate since 2013, he has immersed himself in the industry ever since. Notably, Dan served as the head of lighting for the Royal New Zealand Ballet and contributed to significant lighting installations overseas.
Off duty, you’ll likely find Dan indulging in plane spotting near the airport or at home, navigating the skies on his flight simulator.
Cameron Whitfield (Cam)
TECHNICIAN and FABRICATOR
Cam entered the realm of event lighting and AV thanks to his brother, Morgan. His expertise leans towards the logistical aspects of installing and moving gear. Cam excels in devising creative and sturdy solutions for equipment installation – no challenge is too daunting for him.
Away from the workshop and gigs, you’ll discover Cam on the ocean, whether he’s captaining the Wellington Harbour Ferry or harnessing the wind for kite surfing adventures at the local beaches.
Dylan Taylor
Lighting / AV Designer & Senior Technician
Dylan, a seasoned Video and Lighting Designer, boasts a decade of experience in the live events industry. His fervor lies in crafting innovative and creative experiences for clients and music enthusiasts. Dylan is often at the helm of the lighting desk or media server, specialising in custom stage designs and collaborating with clients to optimise lighting and AV effects for their gigs.
Outside of our projects, Dylan dedicates his time to working on independent ventures, collaborating with some of New Zealand’s prominent bands, such as Drax Project, Six60, Sons of Zion, and more.
Sebastian Fraser (Seb)
Lighting Designer & Technician
Seb, a graduate of Massey University in 2019, is a true professional specialising in lighting design and MA operation. With a robust background spanning over five years, Seb has been a consistent contractor, contributing his expertise to various projects with us. His skills extend beyond the conventional, as he demonstrates a keen ability to craft custom Lua scripts for grandMA, showcasing both innovation and technical prowess in the realm of lighting control.
